Ductile iron castings
Cast iron is an iron carbon alloy with a carbon content greater than 2.11%.It is deeply formed by high-temperature melting and casting of industrial pig iron,scrap steel,and other steel and alloy materials.In addition to Fe,it also contains carbon in other cast iron that precipitates in the form of graphite.If the precipitated graphite is in the form of strips,the cast iron is called gray cast iron or gray cast iron;if it is in the form of worms,the cast iron is called vermicular graphite cast iron;if it is in the form of flocculent clusters,the cast iron is called malleable cast iron or code iron When cast iron is spherical,it is called ductile iron.
The chemical composition of ductile iron,except for iron,is usually:carbon content of 3.0-4.0%,silicon content of 1.8-3.2%,total content of manganese,phosphorus,sulfur not exceeding 3.0%,and appropriate amounts of rare earth,magnesium and other spheroidizing elements.
Ductile iron castings have been widely used in almost all major industrial sectors,which require high strength,plasticity,toughness,performance,resistance to severe thermal and mechanical impacts,high or low temperature resistance(based on actual reports),corrosion resistance(based on actual reports),and dimensional stability.In order to meet these changes in usage conditions,ductile iron has many grades,providing a wide range of mechanical and physical properties.
Most ductile iron castings,as specified by ISO 1083,are mainly produced in a non-alloy state.Obviously,this range includes higher strength grades with a tensile strength greater than 800 Newton/square millimeter and an elongation of 2%.The other extreme is the high plasticity grade,which has an elongation rate greater than 17%,while the corresponding strength is lower(lower at 370 Newton/square millimeter).Strength and elongation are not the basis for designers to choose materials,while other decisive and important properties include yield strength,elastic modulus,performance and fatigue strength,hardness and impact performance,etc.In addition,corrosion resistance,oxidation,and electromagnetic performance may be crucial for designers.In order to meet these special needs,a set of austenitic ductile iron,commonly known as Ni Resis ductile iron,has been developed.These austenitic ductile irons are mainly alloyed with nickel,chromium,and manganese,and are included in reputation standards.
For pearlescent ductile iron,it has the characteristics of medium to high strength,medium toughness,plasticity,high comprehensive performance,good performance and vibration reduction,and good casting process performance.It can change its performance through various heat treatments.Mainly used for various power machinery components such as crankshafts,camshafts,connecting shafts,connecting rods,gears,clutch plates,hydraulic cylinders,etc.
